Happy New Year everyone! This year we have gotten so many new amazing writers to join our website, and I would like to take some time out this month to honor our most recent writer: Luma! She has been writing inspired pieces on the holiday which includes mental health support as well. And here are the answers to the questions we asked her for the spotlight article so we can all learn more about writers and their inspiring journey into publishing so you can all learn and be motivated to find your purpose and passion🥰🌟

1. What is unique about you?

Not sure if I have anything unique about myself, but I'd say my unrelenting faith in God. I started a spiritual journey 3 years ago where I went through an awakening. It nearly lost my mind from it (I will write about it separately) but I'd say my faith in God is what's unique about me.

2. What inspired you to write?

Writing has been an outlet for me since forever. I'm just able to articulate myself better than speaking. They say your mind runs faster than your mouth. Writing has allowed me to "speak" as quick as my mind. Whether it's making content, blog posts, or journaling.

3. Who are your greatest role models?

My greatest role models are Yeshua (Jesus) and my aunt Rete. First, following Jesus's example has made me more loving, graceful, and hopeful towards others and about life. It hasn't been the easiest but it's been so worth it. My aunt Rete is a woman who has spoken life over me since i was a kid. She taught me how to take care of myself, have confidence, and to discern who a real friend is. There were times when as a kid she was able to pour into me when I needed it the most.

4. What do you look forward to in the new year?

I look forward to growing spiritually and getting more good opportunities in my writing business. I have specific goals I want to achieve business wise and with writing. I also hope to provide a unique brand being a ghostwriter and brand storyteller.

5. Some advice for new writers or writers that are scared to put their work out there?

It helps to start practicing and send it to a friend you trust. This slowly helps you become more comfortable with "exposing" your work. I'd also recommend writing on Medium and joining a small publication so you can get in the habit of being given feedback to refine your writing. Also, you really just have to just hit publish unapologetically. If something flops, let it flop. You never know what piece of writing will resonate with people or take off. Just trust the process.
