When the heat is mixed in with stress, which makes for an overwhelmingly unhappy combination, you can now ease your tension with some aromatherapy. To find out more about it and how to incorporate it into your lifestyle, follow on below:

What is aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is basically the use of infused essential oils, which may specific scents to each mixture in order to successfully calm your psychological state and overall physical well-being. Aromatherapy is pretty much an ancient ritual or experience that has been used for centuries to promote relaxation. With all the unique scents and oils, you get to become an active participant in your aromatherapy experience by mixing and matching certain smells to find the best aroma for your unique relaxation purposes.

Choose your desired essential oils

The first thing you will want to do is pick out the essential oils to your liking. Essential oils are distilled from the leaves, stems, or flowers of specific plants. There is a whole range of oils with alluring scents that can help you relax; essential oils are known for their soothing and calming properties.

Utilizing aromatherapy in a spray bottle

The easiest and probably most practical way to use aromatherapy would be to spray it all around your space whether that is your home or office. You can spray your furniture, your bedding/clothing, anything to get that aroma within your given space. This can then help you to be in a relaxed state for a longer period of time. All you need is a spray bottle and your choice of essential oils.

Some herbs and flowers you can add to your own aromatherapy mix:

Chamomile/Rose/Valerian

Lemongrass/Rosemary/Juniper Berry

Lavender/Melissa/Geranium

Enhancing aromatherapy through a massage

Massages are generally a great way to relax. Adding aromatherapy to your massage can directly make you more relaxed in a quick amount of time. Try a patch test before you start the actual massage to see if your skin is allergic or sensitive to some of the aroma blends. Always begin the massage lightly and gently so that you do not over stimulate your circulation. You can start wherever you feel needs the most attention, but generally starting at the feet is standard. Add the aroma blend mix there and work your way up to your legs, wrists, palms, and temples. These areas are the center points for reflexology, therefore triggering greater relaxation stimulation within the entire body, which can ultimately enhance your overall massage experience.

Dilute your essential oils with a carrier oil

If you have very sensitive skin you might want to consider diluting your oil blends before applying them directly to your skin. Since essential oils are powerful in their potency, by introducing a carrier oil, you will be essentially reducing its potency to an effect. Additionally, they can act as a mild moisturizer for your skin. Some great carrier oils would be olive oil, coconut oil, or avocado oil. Simply mix around 5-10 drops of your chosen essential oil/s into each fluid ounce of carrier oil, and watch how the entire solution will be balanced to fit your sensitivity.

Create a romantic spa experience for yourself

Pamper yourself. A warm bath is perfect for creating the mood of relaxation, and here is where aromatherapy can help. First you want to create a mood in the bathroom that fits to your liking.

In essence think of going to a spa and mimic that idea into your own physical space. This spa-like experience continues with filling your bathtub with warm water (or whatever temperature you feel most relaxed in) and pouring in your authentic essential oil blend mix. Spread the oil throughout the water so that it is distributed evenly and dim the lights (if that is soothing for you). You can additionally add some candles and music before you hop in the tub for a truly relaxing experience. You can stay there anywhere from 10-40 minutes if you so desire. For more of a romantic ambience, add some unique bathtub items like pillows or flower petals or even a warm washcloth on top of your eyes. This is all for maximizing your relaxation with the complete aromatherapy spa experience.

Diffuse your essential oils

With aromatherapy you can easily diffuse the scents you choose via a humidifier or a scent diffuser. Once they are physically diffused into the air, it will create a calming effect on you and moreover, your entire home will radiate serenity within minutes.

Now you have all the tools at your disposal to assist you in your journey towards attaining peace and tranquility, through aromatherapy. You can naturally revive and stimulate your senses through enjoying the aromas of the uniquely blended essential oil scents which calm and rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul.
